You can ride a camel to the southernmost point of Elephantine Island, where you will find Saint Simeon’s Monastery. This old abandoned fort was primarily built in the 7th century and is located near Aswan.
Archaeologists and travelers named the Monastery of St. Simeon after it was gifted by Patriarch Theophilus, Bishop of Sinai (now Aswan).
